A fantastic letter card (10 øre Fr. VIII) sent as a normal domestic letter, but it contained 5 kroner in cash (according to content). It was illegal to put cash into non-registered letter. If a postman suspected that a non-registered letter may contain cash, he had to note “Formodes at indeholde uangivne penge” (presumed to contain undisclosed cash) + his name: “Opdager: Postbud Schlütter” (discovered by postman Schlütter). If a letter arrived with this notation, the receiver was invited to the post office, where the piece of mail was opened. If it actually contained any undisclosed cash, the postman, who made the notation personally got 20% of the disclosed amount (here 1 kr)! All other items of this kind, I have ever seen, originates from a single correspondence to Ribe in the 1890ies.
THE ONLY RECORDED LETTER CARD OF ANY KIND WITH UNDISCLOSED MONEY NOTATION
Det eneste registrerede danske korrespondancekort med påtegning om indhold af uangivne penge!
